A highlight of the new InLoco Open Storage is the first UAE multidisciplinary solo project and site-specific intervention by contemporary artist Filippo Minelli. “The Idealised City” is a result of an extensive investigation into cultural, urban, and architectural specificities of the post-globalization world and a celebration of themes, revolving around ubiquitousness and identity – not in becoming but in its permanence, while questioning authenticity, blurring the lines of reality and fiction, the meaning of photography and the function of images in the digital era.
The exhibition format is composed of an outdoor installation and photography, video, paintings, and sculptural elements combined for the fruition of the viewer as an immersive experience at the gallery, expanding to the digital format through a playful interaction in the
Metaverse.
For the occasion, the artist developed a kaleidoscopic production with a variety of mediums, but keeping a focus on the contemporary landscape as a way to translate anthropologic processes, as he often operates.
